Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) put on by the West Marin Fire Departments.

Fire and safety education at the Bolinas-Stinson Union
School District. |
The Bolinas Fire Protection District provides free home safety inspections, inside and out, at the
request of residents of the District. We are happy to check the safety of your fire place, wood
burning stove or chimney. Before fire season we check for adequate defensible space around
structures and work with our residents to create a fire safe environment around their homes.
The Bolinas Fire Protection District joined with the Bolinas Community Public Utility District, the
Stinson Beach Fire Protection District, and the Stinson Beach County Water District to create the
Bolinas-Stinson Resource Recovery Project. Residents of Bolinas and Stinson Beach can drop of
their yard trimmings and other clean green waste to be chipped and composted at the Resource
Recovery Site at 18 Olema-Bolinas Road in Bolinas. Drop off cost is $15 per cubic yard. Finished
compost is available for $30 per cubic yard. When available, firewood is for sale for $40 per 1/4
cord (you load and haul).
The Resource Recovery Project has also been supported by grants from Fire Safe Marin, the County
of Marin, and the National Park Service.
The photos show the site and the visit of the tub grinder which helps make the transformation from
green waste to compost possible.
The Fire Department also has an active classroom education program, reaching all classes K-8 in the
Bolinas-Stinson School District, and an annual Fire-Safety Day.
